74 Years Young!

Prakash Valsangkar

My favorite thing about Thrive Hot Yoga is the dedicated instructors. They encourage students to do better in poses and help improve their concentration. They remember the names of their students.

PRAKASH’S LIFE BEFORE YOGA

I am a regular yoga student for the last ten years. I used to take slow flow yoga in rooms at temperatures between 68 to 70 degrees.

I felt that

  1. I did not have that strong connection between my mind and body,

  2. that my concentration needed to improve,

  3. that my balance on a single foot needed to improve, and

  4. that my hamstring and lower back flexibility needed to improve.

My friend Pat suggested I try the 26+2 Hot Yoga classes at Thrive. Now I have been doing these classes for the last 17 months, about 4 times a week. I also do weight training and swimming every week.

PRAKASH’S FIRST CLASS

I am a senior citizen (74 years) and was not sure if I could handle a 90 minute class at 105 degrees. To my surprise, I handled the first class very well. After the first week, I even completed the 10-day yoga challenge. Lauren was my first teacher and started me on this journey.

PRAKASH’S HEALTH BENEFITS

I feel that my mind and body connection is getting stronger. My concentration and my joint flexibility is getting better. The balance on my one foot is getting better. Overall I feel better and stronger.

PRAKASH’S FAVORITE THING

My favorite thing about Thrive Hot Yoga is the dedicated instructors. They encourage students to do better in poses and help improve their concentration. They remember the names of their students.

PRAKASH’S ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS

My advice for beginners is to listen carefully to each and every word the instructor says in the class. Go in unison with the class. Listen to your body signals. Take energy from the class but do not compete with others. Perseverance and patience will prevail.
