COVID-19 Safety Update

COVID-19 safety in the yoga studio

Thank you to our yoga community for helping us maintain a safe yoga environment for all of our students by doing your part to eliminate potential COVID-19 exposure.

Your Safety is Our Priority

Currently, the State of Michigan is seeing its largest spike of COVID-19 cases to date (as of January 4, 2022). We wanted to restate what we are doing as a studio and community to do our part to protect our students and staff.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Thrive Hot Yoga has been consulting closely with the Oakland County Health Department to do everything we can to comply with the mandated and recommended guidelines. We have done our best to take precautions above and beyond the mandates and recommendations.

We understand that, especially through these challenging times, your yoga practice is vital to your physical and mental health. At Thrive Hot Yoga, we believe that yoga and exercise is an essential part of preventive healthcare. Our practice provides the obvious benefits of exercise, body movement, stretching, and sweating but there are many other essential benefits yoga provides; stress reduction, depression reduction, pain relief, self care, and mental health. We know how important our community is to our student’s lives, that’s why we are taking the steps we can for safety and prevention.

Our wonderful students and staff have been our first line of defense.

Your cooperation has been vital to the health of our community! Thank you! This is what our community has been doing to protect each other:

  • Stay home if you or someone in your household are not feeling well or are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other illness

  • Wear your mask while in the studio until you get to your yoga mat

  • Maintain at least a 6 foot distance from other students; in the hot room and in the studio

  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer

  • Cover coughs and sneezes

We are taking every measure we can to provide you with a safe environment.

Currently this is what you can expect when you enter one of our studios:

  • We are maintaining smaller class sizes than what is currently allowed - The CDC is defining COVID-19 exposure as an “Individual who has had close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more)” of a person with COVID-19 (CDC site reference). By maintaining smaller class sizes, we are ensuring that you will be able to maintain a 6 foot distance from other students while practicing.

  • We have invested in state-of-the-art air purifiers - Air purifiers are installed and operational 24/7 at all Thrive studios. The purifiers have powerful ionizers that target viruses and bacteria. As a second measure of protection, there are ultraviolet lights in the purifier ducting that destroys the outer protein coating of the virus, effectively inactivating it. Again, the purifiers are continuously purifying the air in the studio.

  • We are recommending wearing your mask until you get to your mat - This is an easy measure we can all perform to keep safe during any close proximity interactions in the studio.

  • We have shields installed at our front desks - This is just another measure to help prevent any possible droplet or particle exchange that could potentially happen while checking in.

  • We are disinfecting all surfaces in between classes - From the floors, to the front counter, to the bathrooms, and everything in between - Your safety is our priority.

  • We have modified our breathing exercises in class - This will mitigate any potential exposure from droplets or contaminants that may possibly be spread from extreme breathing.

  • We no longer offer shared rental mats or rental towels - Please bring your own or purchase in the lobby before class.

  • We continue to monitor the Oakland County Health Department guidelines - We’ve been focused on how we can bring you the safest place for your practice. Consulting with the Oakland County Health Department has ensured that we are doing all we can to keep you safe.

There are a number of resources available from the State of Michigan and the CDC if you are looking for more information:
